There is no justice in that. There is unfortunately more to his story so you may not have the whole truth.

Does knowing ease a burden on your mind?

What else is there?

It does. I knew that he was hiding something, but I did not know what. It was not good news by any means, but I would rather know that not.

That he had no direct hand in their deaths - simply used the confines of the Metaverse and allowed them to perish by Shadows. Not that I am defending his actions or his motives, but from what he's said it would seem there was more to his story then what was in a file.

Allowing someone to die, or arranging it so that you can say you are not responsible on a technicality, is no different than murder.

I am only interested in whether he really wants to change.

I did not suggest he is not culpable for the murders, simply stating that there is more than what I knew.

I believe he does. If he's spent his time wisely here then I believe he wants to change.

I do not believe he does anything wisely. But I can believe that he tries.

I can agree with you on that. Adachi is quite the character. I'm actually surprised he was a detective with what he's told me.

What about yourself, Akechi? Are you looking to this world as a clean start?

Despite what has happened, I believe it is a clean slate. You offered help in Shido's palace, and while I understand your hesitation, I want to extend my offer of assistance.

I will not pretend to trust you. Nor will I reject the possibility, if you can find a way to prove your intentions.

Unfortunately, I do not currently have anything I would need your assistance with.

Perhaps you will need it in the future - I do have access to police files here, after all.

I'll have to do some digging to see if the system is connected between cities, but let's assume Maurtia Falls for now.
